PAPOTTE

Papotte, is a new guest place which brings together in an old 15th century mill, four holiday homes and a coffee & shop set in the middle of the greenery. A refined and trendy space signed by the duo of architects Heju, where you can enjoy, one-on-one or with the tribe, the sweetness of life in Burgundy.

Recently opened, Papotte offers four holiday homes and a café-grocery store designed and built with Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann of Heju architecture studio, in charge of bringing life and meaning to this place steeped in history. The buildings are installed in an old 15th century mill established on a 2.5 hectare estate, through which the Ouche river meanders. The estate also offers guests the opportunity to indulge in the joys of fishing from a boat or from the banks of the pond, and to enjoy picking vegetables and herbs from the vast vegetable garden in preparation for the meal to come. This bucolic setting is in the heart of "Burgundy Switzerland", a few kilometers from Beaune and the mythical regional wine estates, between wooded hills and green meadows, conducive to disconnection and rejuvenation.

The approximately 500 m2 of surface area of the premises are imprinted in a minimalist and impeccable architectural ensemble where curves and graphic lines, old materials and contemporary elements are delicately intertwined, and are fully equipped with the essential decorative references of the moment. In particular, the Burgundian neighbors La Lune or the highly publicized The Socialite Family participated in the decorative project, drawing from their own catalogs or by curating furniture and antique or handcrafted objects. While the entire project is based on a refined and luminous aesthetic charter, each house nevertheless has its own identity.

Maison 2, a small islet perfect for romantic getaways, bordered by the river and with its small private beach, is Scandinavian-inspired, imagined as a Nordic fisherman's hut with stripped simplicity, is tinted with a palette of light colors and blond woods, and dressed in a vintage and artisanal selection sourced by La Lune.

The house for 4 people, located in the former bread oven of the Moulin, is ideal for families. Two levels dressed in light wood and natural stones, colored in soft nude and powdery shades enhanced by touches of Burgundy. It offers a breathtaking view of the Ouche valley from its furnished terrace.

" We were keen to work on the creation of a true poetic, singular and above all harmonious spirit to give meaning and life to this magnificent place steeped in history. "

Opposite, in the left wing of the Moulin, the pontoon house of 110 m2 designed for 6 guests, displays a more contrasting decoration. The vast living space on the ground floor is covered in waxed concrete and walls decorated with an olive Velours Côtelé, the result of a collaboration between Heju and Ressource paints. Dark touches invite themselves into the decor via the kitchen elements or through the selections, such as the Roly Poly armchair which contrasts with the large flat white areas of the Menorcan-inspired honeycomb bookcase. Upstairs, the three bedrooms are felted terracotta cocoons as a reminder of the sun setting on the pond below.

The large seven-bedroom family home, with a more classic composition and style with its Virginia creeper, crisp parquet and old cement tiles, immerses its guests in the colorful Italy of the 1950s, staged by The Socialite Family. A harmony of yellows, greens and blues on a latte background spreads over the three floors of the house, covered on the floors with cozy carpeting and white toupees for chilling in front of a movie in the cinema lounge. Outside, the huge private garden with its fountain and gazebo invites you to relax lulled by the chirping of birds in a truly magical atmosphere.

Coffe & Shop

To top it all off, the owners have provided a catering area run by a barista who concocts locavore breakfasts based on crispy toast, homemade jam and comforting and creamy drinks. This caffeinated setting also offers a liquid and spicy selection of carefully sourced products to enjoy an aperitif on the terrace or in your home.
