In the past, this historic apothecary treated pilgrims on the Way of Saint James with local plants, perpetuating precise and nature-friendly know-how. Today, Apoticari revives this heritage with a modern and demanding approach, offering natural care with proven effectiveness. Its boutique, both contemporary and inspired by the pharmacies of yesteryear, appeals to lovers of responsible cosmetics as well as those passionate about decoration and history.
Apoticari was born from a deep attachment to Auvergne and the desire to create a brand embodying its plant and herbal heritage. This project is rooted in an adventure initiated by Elsa and Claire, who wanted to develop a spa in Puy-en-Velay highlighting the benefits of local plants. Faced with the lack of treatments that fully reflected the soul of the region, they decided to create their own brand.
Apoticari is reinventing skincare by drawing inspiration from common sense and traditional practices, where beauty isn't limited to appearances, but rather to overall balance. Before the industry's segmentation, plants were at the heart of skincare, chosen for their benefits for skin and well-being. Apoticari selects plant ingredients, primarily native to Auvergne, such as verbena, chamomile, nettle, and borage, for their proven effectiveness and their roots in centuries-old traditions. In the heart of the historic center of Le Puy-en-Velay, the first Apoticari boutique, designed by the Madrid-based architecture firm Febrero Studio, embodies the brand's identity with its raw materials, mineral shades of volcanic stone, and wooden elements, evoking the apothecary of the Hôtel-Dieu. The spa is scheduled to open in 2026. A magnificent location that has already become a must-see in Auvergne.
