In the heart of the Périgord Noir, Bel Estiu brings together all the assets to taste the pleasures of rural life in an authentic and friendly setting. In an old 18th century farmhouse carefully restored by Emilie and Marie, the guest house is an invitation to disconnect and enjoy the sweetness of life for a night or a week. It promises peaceful and happy moments, alone or in a tribe, in which we like to linger to share simple pleasures and recharge our batteries between two walks and historical visits.
Emilie and Marie had the idea of creating a cocoon a few kilometers from the medieval town of Sarlat where their guests could take full advantage of the gentle Occitan way of life. In 2014, they left Paris for the Dordogne where they will transform this farmhouse into a little bucolic paradise. After a year of work, three guest rooms opened in the barn designed as a holiday home. A generous place with a soul that gives everyone the feeling of being in their own country house. Whether you stay in a single room or take advantage of the whole house, the Bel Estiu offers a feeling of comfort and fullness where you share simple pleasures: preparing the meal back from the market, chilling in the living room between games and readings on local prehistory, study the next day's tourist program, swing gently in the hammock under century-old trees, do lengths in the swimming corridor bordered by wheat fields or enjoy a barbecue under the stars.
"It is a place with a soul, an 18th century farmhouse with its lauze roofs and its ocher stones typical of the Périgord Noir, in which I invite you in all simplicity to discover the Dordogne." Émilie
The atmosphere of the house is simple, natural and friendly, just like its owners. Emilie and Marie wanted to preserve the history of the place by keeping authentic materials such as old floor tiles, wooden mangers and oak floors. The decor is complemented by furniture mottled here and there, dressed in linen and cotton fabrics, and tinted with a palette of calm colors echoing the surrounding nature, available in pretty shades of almond greens, ochres and brown. We cross the wooded garden and stroll through the nooks and crannies of buildings with dry stone facades and slate roofs, to reach the swimming lane installed in the middle of an idyllic landscape for nature lovers. Our favorite goes to the old adjoining chicken coop, which has rightly become the "hen-house"!
From June 2022, the adventure continues at the end of the road, with the opening of a 4 people guest house which has just undergone a beautiful renovation like the rest of the house. Whatever formula you choose, Bel Estiu lives up to its name and keeps the promise of offering its guests a great summer.
