Nestled in the charming village of Barnsley, just a short distance from Cirencester, The Pig-in the Cotswolds is a small hotel that perfectly embodies the spirit of English country luxury. Housed in a majestic 17th-century building, it offers an enchanting escape combining authenticity and modern comfort, perfect for a dream getaway in the heart of England.
The Pig, a boutique hotel chain specializing in the renovation of country houses in England, has opened its tenth establishment in a 17th-century building located near Cirencester in the Cotswolds. The charm is felt from the moment you arrive. This carefully preserved house stands majestically in the heart of a vast green estate. Its gardens, designed in the Arts & Crafts style by renowned landscape designer Rosemary Verey, are a true oasis of tranquility. Winding paths lined with flowerbeds, meticulously trimmed hedges, and lush vegetable gardens create an intimate and seductive atmosphere. The setting is idyllic, with its cows, Georgian vicarage, and cozy lounges, providing a bucolic ambiance, even during winter.

The hotel, designed by Robin and Judy Hutson, occupies the former rectory of Barnsley House, renowned for its Arts & Crafts-inspired garden. It preserves the atmosphere of this era through refined decor, combining antique furniture and floral accents, creating a cozy yet decidedly English setting. The rooms, spread between the main house and the former stables, blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. They are decorated with floral motifs and natural hues, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere. The bathrooms, equipped with Bramley products specially designed for The Pig hotels, offer natural treatments with delicate herbal aromas. Some rooms enjoy breathtaking views of Rosemary Verey's garden, while others, such as Rosemary's Hideaway, offer exclusive spaces with a four-poster bed in an enchanting setting. The hotel also has a cottage perfect for families or groups of friends.

True to The Pig's ethos, the restaurant emphasizes cuisine made with ultra-local ingredients, harvested from its own vegetable garden or sourced within a 40 km radius. The menu evolves with the seasons, offering authentic and flavorful dishes. Examples include Jerusalem artichoke and crispy sage risotto, grilled Old Spot pork chop with beetroot and cider sauce, or a local pear and almond cream tartlet. The atmosphere is both refined and relaxed, perfect for an immersive dining experience.

Spa
At the heart of the estate, the Fieldhouse offers an exceptional wellness experience. This peaceful haven, housed in a pavilion nestled among the trees, offers treatments inspired by the surrounding nature. Massages with essential oils, organic facials, and outdoor relaxation sessions allow guests to truly escape during their stay.
