Marie and Mickaël put their hearts to work to renovate two village houses in their native Puisaye. Two lodgings with a deliberately grandmotherly spirit filled with knick-knacks reminiscent of the neighboring church whose ringing of bells punctuates the day. A bucolic atmosphere tinged with nostalgia where to escape with family or in a group for a weekend and more...
In the charming village of Villiers-Saint-Benoît, in the middle of Puisaye country, a region of forests, ponds and small winding roads in northern Burgundy, Marie and Mickaël have just opened two gites after eighteen months of works. A resolutely rustic atmosphere instilled by its interior designer owner, who wanted to offer her guests modern comfort while highlighting the history of the place and the local architectural heritage.
The two buildings are located opposite the Saint-Benoît church, the inspiration for the name and the decorative spirit of the place. The houses are built around a common garden which offers the possibility of renting the premises separately or jointly. In total, the Maison Pieux can accommodate fifteen guests.
The largest house, adorned with a subtle palette of greens, oranges and yellows, offers five bedrooms and two bathrooms that can accommodate up to ten people who will enjoy the flamboyant fitted kitchen, the large dining room to eat, and can even indulge in billiards in the library. The second house, more intimate in its shades of beige, includes two double bedrooms sharing a pretty bathroom.
" I wanted us to feel here like at our Grandmother's house!" Marie Ducornet
Authentic and durable materials have been used in the renovation of the houses: the terracotta floor tiles and cabochons come from the nearby Courboissy factory, the exposed beams are highlighted by the whitewashed walls and the fireplaces are balanced in a mixture of brick, stone and wood. A neat finish in neutral colors whose ecru linen curtains diffuse a diaphanous light, enhanced here and there by wallpapers and floral fabrics. To perfect this neo-country atmosphere, all the furniture and decorative objects were found in nearby flea markets or found on the boncoin.
The region is the starting point for many nature, cultural and gastronomic walks. Native land of Colette and country of Guédelon, an unspoiled natural setting sheltering many places of memory, Puisaye offers many surprises to discover...
La Maison Pieuse and its country celebrate simple pleasures and offer the promise of an exotic and relaxing stay.
