COUNTRY BREAK : TOURAINE WITH PAULINE

Pauline and Paul are the happy hosts of Le Détour guest house located in the Touraine countryside. Former Parisians exiled in the Loire Valley, they lovingly renovated a charming barn bathed in light and open on all sides to omnipresent nature.

maison d'hôte le Détour

It took two years of work for Pauline Lemoine and Paul Gross to transform a barn in Indre-et-Loire into a contemporary and friendly guest house. With the help of architect Samuel Crosnier and local craftsmen, they were able to create a modern envelope while retaining the bucolic charm and soul of the place. The new hosts now welcome you to their large house where life is good, and guarantee you wonderful moments of relaxation.

These former city dwellers chose to settle down in Touraine for its fabulous gardens, its magical castles and its colorful vineyards varieties. Thus, the house is the starting point for numerous activities for nature, wine tourism and history enthusiasts. Solo, with family or friends, explore Le Jardin de la France and the banks of the Loire by bike and enjoy everything that Touraine Nature can offer you. Pauline reveals her most beautiful addresses...

WALK & ACTIVITIES

Le Château de Langeais

The Château de Langeais, 1000 years old, immerses its visitors in the daily life of a 15th century prince. The castle is famous for having hosted the marriage of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany in 1491. After visiting the gardens and the park with remarkable trees, children can enjoy tree houses and play areas. The visit is fun and dynamic and appeals to the whole family.

Le château et les Jardins de Villandry

Counting among the jewels of the Châteaux de la Loire, the Château de Villandry and its sumptuous French gardens are a unique testimony to the architecture of Renaissance gardens. All year round, discover the gardens throughout the seasons and their superb displays.

Inhabited by the same family for 260 years, the Château de Lude is a testimony to four centuries of French architecture. Many activities and entertainment are offered to children during school holidays: treasure hunts in boxwood mazes, creative workshops, snacks in medieval kitchens, Easter egg hunts, etc. The entire program is available on the site.

A LITTLE FURTHER... ONE HOUR MAX

It is the largest monastic city in Europe. The architecture is in the spotlight with almost empty rooms which allow you to admire the construction work that was done there. There is also a close link with art here, thanks to the modern art museum which has existed since 2021 but also thanks to a multidisciplinary program which hosts exhibitions throughout the year.
