La Piscine museum in Roubaix offers an immersion in the multi-disciplinary world of the English artist William Morris. In its perspective of exploring the cultural links woven between France and Great Britain, La Piscine is devoting an exhibition to William Morris and highlights the world of the English artist of the 19th century. Through paintings, drawings, furniture and textiles, the museum presents nearly a hundred works from English and French public collections.

This unique exhibition pays tribute to this visionary and committed jack-of-all-trades, instigator of the Arts & Crafts movement, who theorized a social, political, ecological and artistic utopia in reaction to the industrialization of craftsmanship. For him, mass production, propelled by the industrial revolution, sacrificed any notion of aesthetics for purely capitalist reasons. Convinced that "beauty" helps to give meaning to existence, he stood up all his life by fighting against artistic ugliness and advocating craftsmanship, the well-being of workers and a return to nature. William Morris leaves a very rich artistic heritage and a thought that is perfectly topical.
