HÔTEL DES DUNES

A California-style surf lodge has just re-opened its doors in the oldest hotel in Cap Ferret. Located on the main road, with its feet in the dunes and 300 meters from the beaches, this small boutique hotel reconnects with the surf culture of the peninsula.

By taking over the Hôtel des Dunes, the oldest hotel in Cap Ferret, the new owners wanted to give back to the establishment the spirit and the surfing culture that stuck to its history and that of Ferret. To do this, they decided to breathe a Californian touch into this institution by giving it the air of a motel, twisted with a new chic and timeless elegance.

The Hotel

The project has been entrusted to Delphine Carrère, an interior designer from Biarritz, who will bring to the place an unpretentious freshness comparable to the atmosphere of the old motels of the American coasts. She revamps the traditional architecture of cabins on stilts, typical of the Bassin d'Arcachon, to which she brings the cool Californian touch and the chic of the Hamptons, thus enlivening the small boutique hotel with a bayadere palette of fresh yellows and ocean blues.

In total, 11 rooms and 2 suites extended by private terraces or balconies arranged with pine furniture and tiled headboards, and decorated with natural fabrics, vintage objects and photographs by Sports Photographer Sylvain Cazenave... And their bathrooms that smell like pine from the green cosmetics brand Océopin.

After a locavore breakfast, we weave through the sandy path, between pines and fences protecting the dune, surf under one arm and picnic basket in the other. All you have to do is enjoy the ocean and the elements...

Obviously, the Hôtel des Dunes is committed to protecting the coast and the oceans with the Surfrider Foundation Europe association and its local Surfrider Gironde branch in Bordeaux.
