Interview
Hi Hannah, please introduce yourself ?
" I just entered the 40s and live in a turn-of-the-century apartment in Gothenburg with my fiancé and 2 years old daughter. We also have a small country house where we spend our weekends and live most of the time during summer. "
What is your background ?
" I was born and raised in a smaller city outside Gothenburg where I study Textile Engineering. After my studies I moved to Gothenburg and started work within fashion purchasing. I've been working as a Buyer in the fashion industry for over 10 years but last year I started a new position as a Product Manager in a swedish interior company. Currently I'm responsable for product development of carpets and lighting within the business. "
Can you describe the region where your country house is located?
" Our country house is located about 2 hours drive from the city and close to lake Vänern. The region is known for its agricultural land, beautiful archipelago and mighty oak forests. The surroundings are truly historical with lots of old churches, manor houses and well known Läckö Castle in the region. It is also 15 minutes drive from the closest small town, so it is just remote enough for us! "
Why did you choose THAT house ? What was the special, the extra thing you felt in love with?
" The house was built 1918 and is a typical red Swedish cottage with a large verdant and lush garden. When we viewed the house in May the apple trees were in full bloom with the house nestled in all the beautiful greens. During the 1950s the house was owned by two brothers who was also gardeners so the garden is well planned with all kind of fruit trees, lilacs and various kinds of peonies. We also fell in love with the stunning view over the meadows and crop lands with cows and horses just outside the kitchen window. The simple and rustic aesthetic with pine wood floors, original stove as well as a tiled stove also ticked all boxes. "
Which is your favorite object or piece of furniture in your home ?
" Without a doubt the large cabinet in the country house that swallows almost everything we have in terms of dishes, bowls, glass, napkins. I guess it is about the same age as the house so it fits right in!"
What’s your favorite swedish brand right now ?
" I love bedding and brand Midnatt has lovely duvet covers in organic cotton in a beautiful color scheme. They also do tablecloths and napkins which really spice up the table setting. Also, since I'm a quality nerd I love Toteme which always keep delivering luxury quality and elevated classics. "
What is a typical day in Hannah’ country life ?
" Depending on season, I usually spend a lot of time in the garden reading a book or having a glass of Chenin blanc in the shadow. During fall I love being in the forrests picking mushrooms, and since we're usually only out for the weekends I try to squeeze in a visit to the local second hand shops. The vintage shopping is so much better on the country side! Since our small town has been producing china since 1700s the odds are high that you will find loads of nice pieces. "
.
What are your favorite instagram accounts?
" I love the danish @ellendixdotter for interior and fashioN. I follow @collection_apart for curated vintage furniture and art pieces and @schulverket for ceramics and art."
What would you recommend our french readers to visit in Sweden ?
" I might be bias but the region of Kållandsö and Kinnekulle where our summer house is located is a true gem. Lots of nice places to eat, many creative studios to visit and beautiful landscapes. We also spend some time during winter in Härjedalen in the northern part of Sweden, but I would really recommend going there in the summer. Long bright nights, breathtaking views and beautiful hiking trails."
What/Who is your french favorite inspiration and what would like to visit in France ?
" Since I love the Atlantic coast and been visiting Cap Ferret a couple fo times, I would love to discover the Aquitaine region further. And since both me and my fiancé are wine lovers, I would also like to tour Alsace and Jura region and fill up the car with goodies."
