  • LINDSAY AZPITARTE DAILY ROUTINE

After working for Parfums Christian Dior and Shiseido, Lindsay Azpitarte created Ulé, an in & out natural cosmetics brand. The products are made from plants grown in the brand's own vertical eco-farm in the Paris region. Clean products with impeccable packaging that you can't live without! We were therefore very interested to know all the beauty tips of its founder. INTERVIEW 1 - Hi Lindsay, can you quickly introduce yourself? " I am American but I have lived in France for 23 years. So I consider myself Franco-American! I grew up in Florida and studied urban planning at Columbia University in New York. I came to work in France and I had the chance to join Christian Dior perfumes, in the merchandising department. It was a very good experience but I quickly realized that I was very interested in marketing; I then joined the skincare product development department. After a parenthesis at Lou Paris, I joined Shisheido, where I worked for ten years until the launch of Ulé in 2022." 2 - What are your cult beauty products, the basics? " I am a complete fan of the Ulé Oh la plump serum. I put it on in the morning, in the evening and even sometimes during the day...It gives a real boost when the complexion is dull or tired! Also, I can't part with my Nars lip liner, Velvet Mat - Dragon Girl. that enhances the complexion in all circumstances. My third cult product is a serum that I apply to the ends of my hair instead of the conditioner. This is the Tokio Inkarami care oil. My hairdresser recommended it to me and I can't live without it! " 3 - What are your morning and evening skincare routines? " Every morning, I cleanse my face with Ulé Dream of Pure Cleansing Gel. I then apply the Oh la plump serum and then the Amour de Repair hydra-fortifying cream. I then systematically finish with a sunscreen, Shisheido (UV protective compact foundation SPF30) or Supergoop. In the evening, I always remove my make-up with the Rêve of Pure cleansing gel from Ulé, then I apply the Joie de Youth serum and my Ulé anti-aging cream. And I finish with 2 drops of Have it All that I apply like a mask." 4 - Do you have a beauty secret? A homemade recipe? " I don't really have a homemade beauty recipe. I would say that my secret is to be consistent in my routine and to apply it systematically every day in order to be able to measure the effects. Another secret is to hydrate imperatively." " I would say that my secret is to be consistent in my routine and to apply it systematically every day in order to be able to measure the effects." 5 - Have you borrowed a product or ritual from your mother or grandmother? " We have a real family ritual that is passed down from mother to daughter. Coming from Florida, we have all been applying SPF sun care from a very young age. It is imperative in this subtropical region but I kept this habit in Paris where the climate is very different! " 6 - You are American. What are the beauty obsessions of Americans or habits that French women do not have? " Americans are obsessed with "hygiene". The term "Clean Beauty" perfectly expresses this concept. Hair, teeth, skin, nails...everything must be impeccable. In the United States, exfoliation is essential! " 7- What are your favorite beauty addresses? " I follow Chloé Brasé's yoga classes from Chita Studio in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Of course, I love the spa at the Too Hôtel in the 13th arrondissement, which uses Ulé for its treatments. The spa is exactly in the colors of Ulé in pinks and greens." 8 - Where do you like to relax in France? " I love the oceanic climate of Morbihan, the Basque Country, Ireland or Scotland where I take long walks. I love to walk and I can spend hours in the middle of these landscapes and the elements of these regions. Every summer I take a family vacation to Cape Cod, Massachusetts; cycling, swimming...a very natural holidays." In just a few years, collagen has invaded the world of in-and-out beauty. This molecule, present naturally in our body, is used in the form of food supplements, treatment creams or injections with the aim of improving the appearance of the skin and reducing the signs of aging. Collagen Collagen is a fibrous protein found in the human body, meat and fish. It ensures, among other things, the regeneration of the tissues of our skin, our bones and our muscles, and is essential for maintaining the firmness and elasticity of the tissues. And all these signs intensify over the years. This natural aging is accentuated by the skin's "enemies" such as the sun, refined sugar or tobacco. In addition to a healthy lifestyle and the consumption of preferred foods (white meat, fish, vitamin C), the intake of collagen supplements will help maintain glowing skin: In Beauty: brands specializing in skincare offer food supplements to consume every day in the form of pods or capsules. • LA RELÈVE

Let's take advantage of the Indian summer or the holidays to take a getaway to the coolest neighborhood in Marseille. The duo Grégoire Hessmann and Gregory Mandonato have opened in Endoume, a hotel-restaurant with four colorful rooms and a bistro table which will transport you with nostalgia into a retro atmosphere, a bit kitsch, but terribly trendy. The decorative concept is simple: 4 colorful rooms and their associated theme, the design of which was entrusted to the mother-daughter duo Annick Lestrohan and Ingrid Giribone from the neighboring boutique Honoré. Choose from a tropical, rococo, Provençal or Mediterranean ambiance with a kitsch-chic style that subtly evokes the popular small hotels of the 1950s brought up to date. " In Marseille, at 41 Rue d’Endoume, the Art Déco sign announces in wrought iron and capital letters “BAR for the next generation”. Grégoire Hessmann and Gregory Mandonato, local figures with sunny words, have made it an institution ." The restaurant follows the same aesthetic line. A neighborhood bar atmosphere with an old-fashioned zinc counter, a beautiful terrace and bistro options. People come to La Relève to drink their coffee in the morning, to have a quick lunch or to meet their friends at pastis time. On the menu, quality cuisine based on fresh local produce and a well-sourced wine list. • BØISNØIR: SHOU SUGI BAN CRAFTSMEN

Anne-Claire and her husband Jean-Dominique are aesthetes driven by a common passion: the love of materials and, in particular, that of burnt wood, Shou Sugi Ban, a know-how born in Japan in the 18th century. Together, they founded BØISNØIR, a high-end wood burning workshop that offers sustainable cladding as well as furniture and accessories. The Story Originally, Jean-Dominique, alias Jando, an architect, discovered the black wood technique during a trip to Japan. He passes on his passion to Anne-Claire, his wife who also becomes fascinated by the beauty of this traditional know-how. At the time, everyone was going about their personal occupation, but they decided to go to Canada to train in the process with the idea of creating a burnt wood workshop later. In 2013, the project took shape and the couple started on the craft adventure. They acquired a large house in the Bordeaux countryside in which they could set up their showroom, created BØISNØIR and Anne-Claire began prospecting with architects. At the same time, the publication of an article in Milk Magazine on Aurélie Lécuyer's wooden house by Atelier Ordinaire will reinforce their choice of professional reconversion. Seven years later, Anne-Claire and Jando dream of setting up their vast workshop on a farm and migrate to Charente-Maritime at the end of 2021. " The Japanese were the first to ennoble this ancestral method and apply it to architecture and housing." The Craft The Shou Sugi Ban, also called Yakisugi, was originally created to protect dwellings from bad weather and fires. Its technique consists of causing combustion on one side of the solid wood board in order to increase its resistance. This treatment stands the test of time; the charcoal prevents rain, humidity and fungi from damaging the boards, and delays the spread of fire. The slats begin to show splinters after 30 years of installation, but we can count on an average lifespan of 80 years for a burnt wood project. After rigorously selecting high-density Douglas or acacia wood, the boards are carbonized with a blowtorch. The steps then take place: wetting to stop the carbonification process, then brushing to remove the remaining impurities. The boards then dry in the open air before the finishing phase, varying from raw matte to patinated oils depending on the option chosen. BØISNØIR offers around ten. In total, a project requires one to two months of work depending on the finish chosen. The mastery of their gestures and the finesse of their work offer an exceptional quality of burned wood, and make Anne-Claire and Jando true artisans of art. They work together with architects and individuals fascinated by the technicality and rendering of their products. Most of their projects are concentrated in Gironde, but their achievements cover the entire territory, from the Paris region to Provence. bois-noir.net I instagram @maisonboisnoir picture credit © BØISNØIR - lala architectes & erick keis

" The House The old 1694 farm has become a treasure of refinement where every detail offers its visitors a unique experience. Holistic practitioners lead the treatments which begin with a cleansing ritual in the hammam, a symbol of physical renewal and metamorphosis, allowing one to leave behind the old to welcome the new. Then, full head-to-toe massages are applied with organic oils and balms infused from local botanicals. These treatments are highly personalized and can include various practices such as breath work, reiki, sound therapy, hypnotherapy, as well as drum circles and moonlight fire ceremonies. A workshop dedicated to painting, drawing and pottery offers another form of expression and healing. Whether traveling solo or attending Wise Retreats, the environment is conducive to relaxation and reconnecting with yourself and the elements.
