  • GARDEN PRINTS

Whatever their source of inspiration are, the fabrics and wallpapers are adorned with floral bouquets, foliage and faunal elements. French or English gardens, Chinese, Indian or tropical styles print everywhere! Furnishing fabric editors have understood this well and are following the lifestyle trend; the natural touch continues to bloom and confirms the desires of the countryside inside and out. The days of monochromatic white, nude or beige interiors are about to be over. These large, altogether insipid flat areas of color translate a lack, reveal a void, or even a hidden depressive state according to the principles of psycho-deco analysis. Good news! It seems that society has come out of this clinical state. The trend is towards measured filling and variegated but subtle colors. Back to nature and therefore to the essential. The interiors are printed with floral motifs, foliage and animals, an obvious manifestation of the need to escape the dish, of the desire to live in our vital element, the symbolism and representation of which reassure us and fill us with joy. After the Louis XV and Louis XVI period, Art Nouveau and the 1960s, our interiors are once again adorned with neat and refined motifs for an enveloping and reassuring atmosphere. Upholstery fabrics are printed, embroidered or embossed, wallpaper and even panoramics unfold. The major leaders of the movement, English Textile Designers have never stopped dressing their interiors in fresh colors and garden motifs: Osborne & Little, Sanderson, Liberty of London, Mulbury, William Morris & co, Designers Guild ...each dealing with the subject in their own way, classic or stylized. French, Italian or Spanish fabric publishers follow the trend and offer elegant collections reminiscent of the rich hours of their past regimes. Isidore Leroy's wallpapers recall the golden age of the Second Empire, Coordonné's decorative panels recall the great moments of Spain, Rubelli's brocades plunge us back into Venetian splendour...

  • HANNAH PERSSONS

Hannah Perssons shares her life between the city of Gothenburg where she works in textiles design, and her little red wooden cabin in the countryside of Västergötland in southwestern Sweden. With her husband and her 2-year-old daughter, they live a peaceful existence marked by a typically Scandinavian lifestyle that the young woman shares on her Instagram account. Simple moments, harmonious settings, lush landscapes and nature define Hannah Perssons' Instagram account. A summary of very inspiring Swedish lifestyle to discover here. Interview Hi Hannah, please introduce yourself ? " I just entered the 40s and live in a turn-of-the-century apartment in Gothenburg with my fiancé and 2 years old daughter. We also have a small country house where we spend our weekends and live most of the time during summer. " What is your background ? " I was born and raised in a smaller city outside Gothenburg where I study Textile Engineering. After my studies I moved to Gothenburg and started work within fashion purchasing. I've been working as a Buyer in the fashion industry for over 10 years but last year I started a new position as a Product Manager in a swedish interior company. Currently I'm responsable for product development of carpets and lighting within the business. " Can you describe the region where your country house is located? " Our country house is located about 2 hours drive from the city and close to lake Vänern. The region is known for its agricultural land, beautiful archipelago and mighty oak forests. The surroundings are truly historical with lots of old churches, manor houses and well known Läckö Castle in the region. It is also 15 minutes drive from the closest small town, so it is just remote enough for us! " Why did you choose THAT house ? What was the special, the extra thing you felt in love with? " The house was built 1918 and is a typical red Swedish cottage with a large verdant and lush garden. When we viewed the house in May the apple trees were in full bloom with the house nestled in all the beautiful greens. During the 1950s the house was owned by two brothers who was also gardeners so the garden is well planned with all kind of fruit trees, lilacs and various kinds of peonies. We also fell in love with the stunning view over the meadows and crop lands with cows and horses just outside the kitchen window. The simple and rustic aesthetic with pine wood floors, original stove as well as a tiled stove also ticked all boxes. " Which is your favorite object or piece of furniture in your home ? " Without a doubt the large cabinet in the country house that swallows almost everything we have in terms of dishes, bowls, glass, napkins. I guess it is about the same age as the house so it fits right in!" What’s your favorite swedish brand right now ? " I love bedding and brand Midnatt has lovely duvet covers in organic cotton in a beautiful color scheme. They also do tablecloths and napkins which really spice up the table setting. Also, since I'm a quality nerd I love Toteme which always keep delivering luxury quality and elevated classics. " What is a typical day in Hannah’ country life ? " Depending on season, I usually spend a lot of time in the garden reading a book or having a glass of Chenin blanc in the shadow. During fall I love being in the forrests picking mushrooms, and since we're usually only out for the weekends I try to squeeze in a visit to the local second hand shops. The vintage shopping is so much better on the country side! Since our small town has been producing china since 1700s the odds are high that you will find loads of nice pieces. " . What are your favorite instagram accounts? " I love the danish @ellendixdotter for interior and fashioN. I follow @collection_apart for curated vintage furniture and art pieces and @schulverket for ceramics and art." What would you recommend our french readers to visit in Sweden ? " I might be bias but the region of Kållandsö and Kinnekulle where our summer house is located is a true gem. Lots of nice places to eat, many creative studios to visit and beautiful landscapes. We also spend some time during winter in Härjedalen in the northern part of Sweden, but I would really recommend going there in the summer. Long bright nights, breathtaking views and beautiful hiking trails." What/Who is your french favorite inspiration and what would like to visit in France ? " Since I love the Atlantic coast and been visiting Cap Ferret a couple fo times, I would love to discover the Aquitaine region further. And since both me and my fiancé are wine lovers, I would also like to tour Alsace and Jura region and fill up the car with goodies." We thank Hannah for being kind enough to answer our questions.. • LANDY RAKOTO

From her workshop in a village house in Brissac-Quincé, in the Loire Valley, Landy Rakoto shapes clay by hand to create unique stoneware ceramic pieces or in small series. Her creations, a resolutely modern reinterpretation of rustic craftsmanship, are in line with current trends and enhance tableware and traditional decorative objects. The Story After a first presentation of her work in the very trendy Zora Auguste gallery of the designer Nella Beljan in Berlin in 2021, Landy Rakoto settled in the charming village of Brissac-Quincé near Angers, and founds her first workshop in the attic of her house near the Château de Brissac and its botanical park. An authentic place steeped in history, lined with traditional floor tiles and topped with exposed beams that let the day filter in through a skylight. A central workbench houses the sandstone loaves, and the designer's works are exhibited all around the room, between homemade shelves and antique wooden furniture. It is in this authentic and historic space that the young woman of Franco-Malagasy origin works the sandstone on the wheel. Precise and repeated gestures that end up giving shape and life to authentic, modern and appealing everyday objects. " I like to be part of a millennial and universal artisanal practice, but also quite contemporary." The Collections Landy Rakoto reinterprets classic everyday objects to which she brings a touch of originality and modernity. The result is collections with polished aesthetics, with a simple and refined design at the same time, which are available in a subtle palette of natural and organic hues that explores greens, browns and creams with evocative names: Volcano reds, Saulge and Kaktus greens or Cloud Coffee browns, which also testify to the resolutely contemporary universe of the young woman. Landy Rakoto's creations and collaborations are only available on her online store. landyrakoto Instagram @landyrakotoceramics picture crédit © adel fecih
