- CABIN FEVER
Gestalten is publishing a work dedicated to cabins. This booming construction is a new refuge that awakens primary instincts in us and echoes our first habitats. It contributes to our need for simplicity and disconnection. But the new generation cabins are now real miniature architectural gems that Cabin Fever invites us to discover through some forty projects. The Berlin publisher, specializing in Lifestyle books, publishes a work dedicated to cabins. Wherever they are nestled, in lush forests, facing the sea or in the middle of the desert, the cabins have become real habitats. Today, they no longer take on the former rustic and rudimentary aspect. From now on, architects are striving to design real living spaces but on a smaller scale. On stilts, perched in the trees, rounded frame in the desert or hanged in the mountains, in wood, concrete or sheet metal, Cabin Fever presents a new wave of modern, fully-equipped shelters across the planet and far from the urban bustle. - COUNTRY AND COZY
Gestalten publishing house dedicates a book to the countryside through a selection of houses scattered around the world. From the borders of England to the Beijing countryside, Country and Cozy opens the doors of cottages, fincas, chalets or barns with rustic and contemporary decor. A series of residences all different but which point to the desire of its inhabitants to reconnect with nature in the long term. The attraction for countryside was already palpable before the pandemic, but it has developed at breakneck speed since then. Interest in rural life and the benefits it offers has now exceeded what many of us could have imagined even a few years ago. Preferring winding country roads to traffic jams, clean air to pollution, calm to bustle, city dwellers are increasingly choosing to settle in greener regions where they establish occasional or permanent refuges. Country and Cozy highlights unique residences that have been able to integrate into their regional architecture and have been renovated with respect for local craft traditions. They display a classic or contemporary decoration, a refined or rustic style, natural, sustainable materials, antique or new furniture, but whatever the setting, each choice of finish and furniture has been made with care and awareness. Throughout the pages, we discover a barn converted into a dwelling in New York State, a refreshed former convent in Tuscany, a 200-year-old half-timbered house in the middle of German meadows or a minimalist Catalan farmhouse from the 13th century. All the dwellings in this book display their own style, like their owners who reflect their conception of the country house, thus offering its readers new perspectives and approaches to country life. - IN THE MOOD FOR...
Audrey Nait-Challal has created small bilingual travel guides in which she delivers her favorite addresses. To date, around ten books have been published since the first edition in 2016. Between a travel diary and a photo book, Audrey invites us to explore cities and their surroundings with her, and shares her experience in an intimate atmosphere. From Porto to Amsterdam, Audrey Nait-Challal reveals her most beautiful discoveries through travel diaries that she has been self-publishing since 2016. The guides are sincere and truly give the feeling of traveling with the journalist. She freely delivers the addresses that have charmed her and that she shares with the reader as with a friend. In each edition, there is a map of the city drawn by hand and divided into districts on which all the good addresses are mapped: hotels, coffee-shops, restaurants, markets, florists, boutiques or flea markets. Audrey divulges there by chapter all the nice and useful places far from the tourist trails that she illustrates through pretty shots. Also, the young woman pushes the limits of the city and reveals the best addresses in the surrounding countryside. " We also discovered that a few pedal strokes from the city, there is a real countryside with its so exotic villages...I am happy to share them with you." In the Mood for Amsterdam_ Audrey Nait-Challal To date, the collection includes seven city guides, two guides dedicated to Parisian cafés, as well as a "special edition" following a family road trip across the United States. The hundred-page booklets are published in a compact format that is ultra-convenient to carry, which slip easily into your tote bag. Audrey designs everything herself: the search for addresses and their experimentation, the writing of texts and the photography. The guides are self-published, self-funded, self-distributed and sold at a very reasonable price (€19.00). So we strongly encourage their creator in her adventure so that she continues to give us her good plans. The guide to Amsterdam has just been published (and is full of nuggets!) but we can't wait to embark with Audrey on her next trip... - APP : FINGLEFOOD
If you are looking around you for the best independent food places that offer sustainable food and work in a short circuit, Finglefood will help you find what you are looking for. This free, simple and graphic app geolocates food players who respect the environment and human relations. Bettina Moriceau-Maillard had the very good idea of promoting "Seed to Plate" concept by geolocating the actors responsible for sustainable food through an app. Joined by Antoine Restoud, they created Finglefood in 2021, an application and a website that bring together professionals and lovers of good food, sharing their values. Producers, shops, restaurateurs, the application currently lists nearly two thousand good addresses throughout France and some abroad. In addition to a directory, Finglefood also serves as a social platform where all interested parties can exchange and build relationships; professionals communicate with their partners there, while users can follow the news from their favorite addresses. You can also discover the portrait and recipes of its affiliates. Everyone is free to suggest addresses that the Finglefood team carefully analyzes before referencing them. Beyond being a practical tool, the essence of Finglefood is to promote an art of (better) living...together! The founders claim their application as militant and collaborative. They are committed to creating a link with the land and those who work it and to make the pleasure of authentic taste accessible to everyone through the free use of their media. finglefood cover - Epicerie Champs Libres, 75012 Paris © finglefood

- Exhibition : WILLIAM MORRIS - LA PISCINE MUSEUM
La Piscine museum in Roubaix offers an immersion in the multi-disciplinary world of the English artist William Morris. A hundred works brought together for the first time in France under the title "L'Art dans Tout" reflecting the plural fields of action of its author, to be discovered until January 8, 2023. In its perspective of exploring the cultural links woven between France and Great Britain, La Piscine is devoting an exhibition to William Morris and highlights the world of the English artist of the 19th century. Through paintings, drawings, furniture and textiles, the museum presents nearly a hundred works from English and French public collections. This unique exhibition pays tribute to this visionary and committed jack-of-all-trades, instigator of the Arts & Crafts movement, who theorized a social, political, ecological and artistic utopia in reaction to the industrialization of craftsmanship. For him, mass production, propelled by the industrial revolution, sacrificed any notion of aesthetics for purely capitalist reasons. Convinced that "beauty" helps to give meaning to existence, he stood up all his life by fighting against artistic ugliness and advocating craftsmanship, the well-being of workers and a return to nature. William Morris leaves a very rich artistic heritage and a thought that is perfectly topical. 1 - The Pimpernel, wall paper by William Morris manufacture Jeffrey & Cie, around 1876 - musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris © Les Arts Décoratifs 2 - Aurora’s Leigh’s Dismissal of Romney, (‘The Tryst’), Arthur Hugues, 1860 - Tate Britain © Tate - creative commons cc-by-nc-nd 1 - Lady Frances Balfour, Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones - 1880 Musée d’Arts, Nantes © RMN-Grand-Palais/Gérard Blot 2 - Jasmine, wall paper by William Morris manufacture Jeffrey & Cie, 1872 - Victoria & Albert Museum, London © Victoria & Albert Museum William Morris "L'Art dans Tout" Octobre 8th 2022 to January 8th 2023 La Piscine - Musée d'Art et d' Industrie André Diligen 23, rue de l’Espérance 59100 Roubaix roubaix-lapiscine

A Year With Our Food Stories is THE cookbook to offer or to be offered if you are a fan of gluten-free cooking. 51 recipes and their ultra-tempting photos created by the famous German duo of Our Food Stories in collaboration with the publisher Gestalten. A Year with Our Food Stories is a gluten-free cookbook inspired by a love of local produce and the art of the table. Photographer Laura Muthesius and food stylist Nora Eisermann - the Berlin duo of Our Food Stories - reveal their simple and delicious vegetarian recipes to share with family and friends. Pavlova, Mushroom Risotto, Mirabelle Plum Tart, Pumpkin Waffles or Vegan Pizza are on the menu...in total, around fifty recipes divided according to the seasons. Our Food Stories was born about ten years ago following the observation of the lack of offers of gluten-free cakes in the German capital. Ten years later, German publisher Gestalten and the Berlin duo share their recipes and country inspirations in their very first cookbook. - KINETIC LEVI
Kinetic Levi manufactures wooden mobiles, true little pieces of art designed to decorate but also intended to calm down their viewers. From its Moscow workshop, the small family business creates around forty models, all graphic and poetic at the same time, which find their place in all the rooms of the house. Young people and adults alike gaze fascinated at these feathery and perfectly balanced pieces of wood that twirl peacefully, from the baby lying in his cradle following the oscillations of the mobile, to the adult hypnotized by the gentle back and forth that the composition operates. Kinetic Levi's goal is not only to create harmonious objects that catch the eye of aesthetes, but also to help the beholder slow down and let go. This is also the brand's slogan - "Keep calm and watch the mobile" - annotation slipped into each package. "Keep calm and watch the mobile." More than a decorative object, Kinetic Levi's mobiles are intended to relax people who no longer take the time to stop and contemplate the beauty that surrounds them. The mobiles, which their creators call "sculptures", always perform a calm and slow movement and encourage us to model our breathing on their undulations. There is therefore a philanthropic motivation inspired by the Zen philosophy which is "hidden" behind each model. The designers even have a vocation to transmit a family history through their creations. Remembering happy moments by creating objects that carry memories that we inherit from generation to generation: from the cradle to the teenager's room, then in the family living room when the child takes flight. And then become an adult and a parent in turn, take back his mobile to install it in his new home... a life cycle embodied by an object that makes sense. kinetic-levi In France, Kinetic Levi mobiles are available at the following retailers: Poitiers Ine concept-store Paris Les Fleurs Petit Raphael Quimperlé L'échappée belle Saint-Denis de la Réunion Origine E-shop Shaisho Billiejo crédit photos © kinetic levi
- ATELIER FRA : ETHICAL CERAMICS
Anne-Sophie Ernest designs 100% ethical ceramics handcrafted in Cambodia, for individuals, professionals and conscientious restorers. From her studio in Liège, Belgium, she shared her story, her values of authenticity and her philosophy of beauty with us. The Story Anne-Sophie Ernest has had her hands in the ground since she was very young. From her childhood spent on the family farm near Namur to her own production of ceramics, she kneads, shapes clay and handles beauty. Esthete at heart, she spent her youth drawing in Indian ink and dreaming of beautiful interiors. The young woman chose to study Art History and began her career as an antique dealer and then an interior designer. It was a trip to southern Asia in 2009 and the discovery of a population practicing centuries-old craftsmanship that triggered it. Upon meeting them, Anne-Sophie felt the immediate desire to create a small collection. She draws a few models on the spot that she has shipped to Belgium and that she will integrate into her decoration projects or that she will sell to decorators. But a serious accident in 2015 forced the young woman to stop all activity. After six years of rehabilitation, Anne-Sophie decides to start from scratch and devote herself solely to the creation of her own brand of ceramics Inspired by Axel Vervoodt's TRA exhibition at the Venice Biennale, and by the name of the street where her studio Rue de Fragnée is located, Anne-Sophie created FRA atelier in 2021. She designs her collections in Belgium, and each piece is turned by hand in Cambodia according to ancestral know-how. The craftsmen work clay soil of excellent quality, by hand and without electricity, which gives the slow and philanthropic dimensions dear to the designer. Aware of the ecological impact of transport from Asia to Europe, Anne-Sophie has chosen to have it delivered only once a year to limit her carbon footprint. In his eyes, working with outstanding craftsmen and promoting an age-old know-how that was disappearing had more value than delivery. Collections The pieces have a raw or glazed texture with local natural pigments. Models come in pearl, sage, khaki and pepper color variations. The lines are simple and clean in the image of the designer and the ceramics can present slight differences, which lends them this unique aspect. Stoneware pieces are designed for everyday use, dishwasher safe and food safe. The pieces are intended for individuals and professionals such as florists and restaurateurs. Chefs focused on slow food can benefit from a branded and non-industrial range in accordance with their values. Anne-Sophie is also developing a collection of table linens from Laos, just as slow design as her ceramics. All profits from the textile are donated to the NK Seeds association, which works in education and the environment in Laos. "My encounter with craftsmen naturally guided me towards my first collection; a collection that I wanted to be timeless, for lovers of beautiful custom-made objects." Anne-Sophie occasionally organizes workshops in her studio for people wishing to learn about ceramics. More than a moment of creation, it is a moment of sharing and exchange. FRA creations are available online on the brand's eshop and in Liège in the Slow Now store. News FRA ceramics will be present throughout the holiday season, from November to January 2023, in the pop-up store Edition Limitée.
